November Message

When Re-Seeing and Gratitude

Lead to Your Best Outcomes

I live in the northeastern region of the United States. November is when we see the earth beginning its well-deserved rest. The birds at the feeders on my porch are more determined than ever to pack in those seedy calories. Except for the oaks, trees are bare of leaves and my view of the sky widens. The ice crystals on the fading grass sparkle as the early morning sun slants across the yard. And maybe my favorite sign of the earth’s shift: the horses and donkeys on the farm where I live fluff up with extra layers of fine hair until, by January, they will look like giant dust bunnies with legs.

I’ve always found November to be a beautiful month. It does not dazzle us with color like October or flood our senses with the lushness of summer leaves and cascading flowers. Surrounded by mountains, woods, and farms, I smell hay and sweet leafy decay instead of cut grass and tomatoes on the vine.

Post-harvest, pre-winter ice, November is a welcome pause, an adjustment period, an invitation to look again and see the world’s changes through grateful eyes.

Re-seeing the world helps with gratitude. We wake up to a new vision that gives hope and maybe joy, or peace, or even anticipation. What does this have to do with your marketing strategy, that book you’re writing, or optimizing your website?

Sometimes we get stuck but don’t even know it. We’ve been doing something the same way forever and have unconscious attitudes about alternatives that prevent us from evolving.

When you wake up one morning and look out at November and see something exquisite, unique, and important—an opportunity to take stock as the year winds down and before the holidays are in full swing—you may be able to jump out of a rut you didn’t even know you were in, and land in a new place.
